Latest Updates

Phase 1 (9 classrooms and 6 science labs) are substantially complete and received faculty and staff August 17, 2020.

One issue came into play when the city's Historic Design Review Commission (HDRC) denied the request for a digital marquee on the campus. New stairwell (facing football field) construction continues. New skylight installation has been completed. Student dining flooring has been completed..


Previously:

Phase 1 was turned over during Spring Break 2020. Construction in Phase 2 areas is in progress as of Spring 2020.

Phase 2 is scheduled from March 2020 to December 2020

The learning staircase installation in mall is in progress, and the skylight installation in the mall is scheduled for the beginning of June 2020. Scaffolding will be erected in the mall as well.

3.28.18: A Project Advisory Team meeting was held to discuss the scope of the project. The team, with members chosen by the principal, consists of a mix of community and staff members from the school. Larger community meetings will come next.

Project Scope

The scope of project for Brackenridge High School includes upgrading the school’s infrastructure, replacing windows and the roof, improving security, and upgrading classrooms to SAISD standards and incorporating 21st Century learning components.

  • Renovations and upgrades to include:
  • Main Building
  • Classroom spaces (general learning, dance/pep room, science, special education)
  • Restrooms
  • Cafeteria/kitchen
  • Heating, ventilation and air conditioning
  • Plumbing and electrical
  • Technology infrastructure for new and renovated spaces
  • Lighting
  • Fire sprinkler systems
  • Special needs accessibility in entryways, restrooms, and other areas
  • Front-entry modifications to improve security
  • Dance Studio
  • Roofing, building exterior and site improvements
