Savannah Sanchez, Early Childhood Education administrative assistant, is the Central Office winner of the Great Employee Modeling Standards (G.E.M.S.) award for the month of November. She is this facility’s first award recipient in 2021-2022.
She was surprised at a small ceremony outside her office on Dec. 3.
“I was completely shocked,” Sanchez said. “I didn’t expect to be nominated much less to win. I was very excited when they introduced the award, especially because the superintendent was there.”
Sanchez joined the ECE/Head Start department in August 2019 as a Head Start data clerk before moving up to her current position as administrative assistant.
“Savannah consistently demonstrates the courage to take on a variety of challenging tasks to help our ECE/Head Start department to meet the needs of our youngest scholars,” Director of Early Childhood/Head Start Aleida Perez said. “She works above and beyond to raise both her level of knowledge and that of her colleagues for services provided to our 60 campuses that serve 3- and 4-year-olds.”
In addition to being a full-time employee and spending time with her husband and son, she is currently studying Human Resources at the University of the Incarnate Word.
“I love this department,” Sanchez said. “My staff is amazing. The director and executive director are so motivating. I love what I do and want to model a good work ethic now and moving forward.”
The G.E.M.S. award program recognizes campus and department full-time classified and paraprofessional employees who embody SAISD’s core values of commitment, passion, integrity, respect, and teamwork. Nominations are accepted from November to April.
Nominations from Central Office are being accepted now for the month of December. Nominations can be submitted until the third Friday of the month using this form.
