International Baccalaureate® (IB) students from Luther Burbank and Thomas Jefferson high schools will have the opportunity to attend their own college fair and still maintain social distancing rules thanks to the efforts of the Texas Council for International Studies (TCIS) and Texas IB Schools (TIBS).

The two organizations have combined their efforts to create an innovative, online college fair focused on recruiting International Baccalaureate® students. The college fair features colleges and universities from across the United States and the world, who actively recruit International Baccalaureate® students.

The website displays the logo of each participating college or university. Students click on each of the logos to watch specially prepared, 90-second videos describing what the school has to offer, their admissions policies for IB students, scholarship opportunities, policies regarding the awarding of college credit hours and more.

Over 60 colleges and universities are featured, including U.S. institutions like Baylor, Bucknell, Emory, Drexel, and Johns Hopkins universities as well as international institutions like King’s College in London, Universita Brocconi in Italy, Franklin University in Switzerland, and more.

“Texas IB Schools has hosted college fairs for IB graduates since 2013 and had planned to do the same this year,” said Margaret Davis, chief executive officer of TCIS. Davis sees the potential for growth on the new online platform. “In past years, the fair had reached a limit due to space but, online there is room to grow,” she said.

The site is sponsored by Johns Hopkins University and the University of Texas at Austin.  It will be active until Sept. 1, 2020.
