Aug. 22 (Fri) – SAISD Foundation “Shade Spots for Tots” Ribbon Cutting

The SAISD Foundation will host a ribbon cutting of Shade Spots for Tots, a project that brings safer, cooler outdoor play and learning spaces to four SAISD elementary schools. Funded by the Charity Ball Association of San Antonio, the new 22-by-22-foot cantilever shade structures will block up to 97% of harmful UV rays and lower temperatures by as much as 25 degrees, allowing students to enjoy recess and outdoor learning year-round. This initiative supports child health, wellness, and learning by giving students a safe space for exercise, brain breaks, and fresh air—even in San Antonio’s extreme heat.
Aug. 22 (Fri) – Lanier High School “Meet the Voks” night

Get hyped for the new school year with the “Pride of the West Side.” Lanier High School invites the public to the annual “Meet the Voks” night. It’s a high energy evening where the community gets introduced to the students representing Lanier in competition, including members of football volleyball, band, cheer, pep squad, dance, mariachi, cross country, swim and JROTC.
