Aug. 22 (Fri) – Lanier High School “Meet the Voks” night 6:30 p.m., Lanier High School, 1514 W. Cesar Chavez Blvd., 78207
Get hyped for the new school year with the “Pride of the West Side.” Lanier High School invites the public to the annual “Meet the Voks” night. It’s a high energy evening where the community gets introduced to the students representing Lanier in competition, including members of football volleyball, band, cheer, pep squad, dance, mariachi, cross country, swim and JROTC.
Aug. 25 (Mon) - SAISD Foundation Surprise Bright Idea Grant Delivery
2 p.m., Hillcrest Elementary, 211 W. Malone Ave., 78214
Students will be surprised with a Bright Idea Grant to fund a Book Vending Machine. This is part of a series of literacy-focused events highlighting innovative educator ideas and community support.
Aug. 27 (Wed) – SAISD Foundation hosts Book Buddies Bus First Visit of 2025–2026

The Book Buddies Bus visit will include Coffee with Principal Yvonne Martinez. This is part of a series of literacy-focused events highlighting innovative educator ideas and community support.
Aug. 28-29 (Thurs - Fri) – High School Football returns to SAISD
A new season of “Friday Night Lights” returns across Texas and San Antonio as the 2025 high school football season kicks off on Thursday, August 28. SAISD will be hosting a trio of games on the season’s opening weekend at our two stadiums:
