Sept. 1 (Mon) – SAISD closed for Labor Day holiday
All SAISD schools and offices will be closed on Monday, Sept. 1 in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Campuses and offices will resume normal hours on Tuesday, Sept. 2.

Sept. 5 (Fri) – Wilson Elementary Grandparents Day event
6:30 a.m. – 7:30 a.m., Wilson Elementary, 1421 Clower St., 78201
Wilson Elementary is hosting a special Grandparents Day event to celebrate the special bond that exists between grandparents and their grandchildren. Families will be able to sip, smile and celebrate with coffee and juice along with light refreshments. One highlight will feature “Grandparent Interviews,” where students get to learn from their beloved elders sharing their stories. There will be plenty of opportunities for special photos, along with reading and craft activities.

Sept.5 (Fri) – SAISD Foundation STEM Bus ribbon cutting
10:30 a.m., Baskin Elementary, 630 Crestview Drive, 78201
The SAISD Foundation, in partnership with San Antonio ISD and St. Mary’s University School of Engineering, invites media and community members to celebrate the launch of the Voyager STEM Bus – a state-of-the-art mobile STEM classroom that will bring interactive science, technology, engineering, and math lessons directly to elementary and middle school students across the district. The bus is equipped with a 3D printer, a robotic arm, virtual reality goggles, a flight simulator and robots programmed with coding to use for racing. At the ribbon cutting, Baskin Elementary students will participate in hands-on demonstrations led by students and staff at St. Mary’s University aboard the Voyager Bus, offering a first look at how this innovative classroom will ignite curiosity and inspire future scientists, engineers, mathematicians, coders and problem solvers.
