Franklin Elementary invites the community to remember their loved ones at a special event for Día de los Muertos. Teachers and students celebrate and embrace this Mexican tradition that shapes our culture. The school offers a unique “ofrenda” to honor and welcome our deceased loved ones. Each Franklin grade level will bring symbolic objects, such as flowers, skulls and the departed’s favorite foods.

Nov. 5 (Wed) – Crockett Academy Career Explorers

The SAISD Career, College and Military Readiness department is partnering with Students of Service (SOS) to engage middle school scholars in career exploration in AVID Elective classes. These career-connected activities will increase middle school students’ capacity to make an informed choice about their high school destination and what Career and Technical Education program of study they will pursue. This event will engage middle school scholars in career connected learning activities crafted to inform them about the high school programs of study they will have to choose from when they transition from 8th to 9th grade.

Nov. 8 (Sat) – SAISD LOTC units at the annual Veterans Day Parade
Noon to 2 p.m., Kick off at Milam Park, 500 W. Commerce St., 78207
All SAISD middle school LOTC units will participate in the 2025 San Antonio Veterans Day Parade in downtown San Antonio. The parade kicks off from Milam Park at noon. Some SAISD campuses will hold Veterans Day ceremonies on Nov. 11. Call SAISD Communications Department for details.

Nov. 8 (Sat) – 2025 Tommy Bowl: Jefferson vs. Edison
2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Alamo Stadium, 110 Tuleta Drive, 78212
The 59th edition of the famed “Tommy Bowl” pits longtime rival football teams from Thomas Jefferson High School and Thomas Edison High School. This year’s rivalry features the Tommy Bowl debut of two new head coaches on both sides: Randy Badillo of Jefferson and David Gibbons of Edison. The Jefferson Mustangs will be looking to clinch a playoff spot, while the Golden Bears of Edison are out to wreck the post-season plans of their archrival.
