WHAT: San Antonio ISD hosts its Annual Spanish Spelling Bee Competition this week. Seventy students from 44 campuses from across the district will compete for a chance at winning the grand premio (prize) to advance to the regional competition. There are three age levels in which the students compete during the three-day competition: third through fifth grade on Tuesday, sixth through eighth grade on Wednesday and ninth through 12th grade on Thursday.

MORE: The Spanish Spelling Bee is a tradition in San Antonio ISD where students have a platform to demonstrate their spelling skills and compete to advance to the competition at the Region 20 Spanish Spelling Bee. It is an important recognition of the Spanish language and helps children develop Spanish language proficiency and cultural appreciation.
The first-place winner from each grade level competition will represent SAISD at the Region 20 Spanish Spelling Bee on Feb. 10, 2026, where they will compete with students from across the San Antonio area.
