SAISD SPOTLIGHT: Wilson Elementary annual Selena talent show welcomes celebrity judges
In its fourth year, the annual Selena Talent Show has grown to become Wilson Elementary’s biggest event. The brainchild of staff member Rosa Narvaez, the talent show honors Selena, and it provides a powerful platform for students, particularly Mexican American and Latino youth, to see their heritage celebrated. It encourages them to embrace their roots while expressing their unique modern identities on stage. The newest twist this year? Celebrity judges will also be performing for the first time!
This year’s judge’s lineup includes Jenny B, Cheyenne Saenz, Erica Gonzaba-Hawkins and Danny Farias. Another packed house is expected at Wilson Elementary on April 10.
*Schedule a time to visit with Wilson Family and Community Engagement Specialist Rosa Narvaez on the inspiration for the talent show that keeps Selena’s legacy alive.
