Colquitt
SAN ANTONIO (April 1, 2026) – San Antonio ISD today announced the hiring of Rashard Colquitt as the new Head Football Coach and Athletic Coordinator at Sam Houston High School. Colquitt expressed excitement for his first head coaching role, especially since Sam Houston won its district championship this past season.

“I am so proud to be named the head coach of the Sam Houston Hurricanes,” Colquitt said. “My goal is to continue to build the program, not just a team, but a program that is successful year after year.”

Sam Houston football under his direction will feature “an up tempo, spread offense paired with a defense that plays fast and physical,” he said.

Colquitt most recently coached at Aldine Nimitz High School in the Houston area, where he served as the offensive coordinator for the past four seasons. His 12-year coaching career began at Coldspring-Oakhurst High School, making stops at Nacogdoches ISD and Port Arthur ISD before moving to Aldine Nimitz in 2022.

“I’m excited to be a part of the San Antonio ISD family,” said Colquitt. “I look forward to building relationships with everyone in the Sam Houston community, as well as the other coaches in our district.”

Colquitt begins April 6.
