As VIA Metropolitan Transit works on its Rapid Green Line service, which will be launched in 2028, the transportation organization has selected art from 42 district students to turn into custom windscreens at bus stop shelters serving the new rapid transit line.

“It warms my heart that the city of San Antonio will have beautiful reminders of the creativity and talent of SAISD students,” said Laura Schultz, visual art coordinator for SAISD. “This kind of collaboration matters, students and organizations coming together to make our community a better, more welcoming space.”

The Rapid Green Line service will be launched in early 2028 and will travel from the San Antonio International Airport along Isom Road, San Pedro Avenue, St. Mary’s Street and Roosevelt Avenue, to Steves Avenue, with continuing service to Brooks.

The VIA Green Line Art in Transit contest specifically invited students whose middle and high schools are within an approximate one-mile distance from the future Rapid Green Line.

Los diseños de los estudiantes se mostrarán en las paradas de los autobuses de VIA

Mientras que VIA Metropolitan Transit trabaja en su servicio «Rapid Green Line», que se lanzará en 2028, la compañía de transporte ha seleccionado las obras de arte de 42 estudiantes del distrito que se pondrán en los paneles de las paradas de autobús de la nueva línea de transporte rápido.

«Me llena de alegría que la ciudad de San Antonio vaya a contar con hermosos ejemplos de la creatividad y el talento de los estudiantes de SAISD», afirmó Laura Schultz, coordinadora de artes visuales de SAISD. «Este tipo de colaboración es importante, los estudiantes y las organizaciones se unen para hacer de nuestra comunidad un espacio mejor y más acogedor».

El servicio Rapid Green Line se lanzará a principios de 2028 y abarcará desde el Aeropuerto Internacional de San Antonio pasando por Isom Road, San Pedro Avenue, St. Mary’s Street y Roosevelt Avenue, hasta Steves Avenue, con servicio continuo a Brooks.
El concurso «VIA Green Line Art in Transit» estuvo dirigido específicamente a estudiantes cuyas escuelas de secundaria y preparatoria se encuentran a una distancia aproximada de una milla de la futura línea «Rapid Green Line».
