June 18, 2026 – San Antonio ISD announces the hiring of Ronald Dement as the new Head Football Coach and Athletic Coordinator at Edison High School. Dement comes to Edison from Jefferson High School, where he served as the defensive coordinator last season for the Mustangs.

“It has always been a dream of mine to be a head coach,” Dement said. “I’m really excited to see what we can do. We have a good core of kids who are hungry and ready to build something positive here at Edison. The possibilities are endless.”

Dement is entering his 19th year of coaching high school football, with the majority of those in the San Antonio area. His career started in 2007 at Bay City High School. From there Dement moved to San Antonio for coaching stints at Cole High School, Brandeis High School, LEE High School, West Campus High School and Randolph High School before joining the staff at Jefferson High School last year.

“We are going to prepare our kids the best we can,” Dement said. “When we step on the field, we aren’t there to lose. We are there to win — together as a team.”

Dement said the Golden Bears will implement a spread offense with a 3-4 defense system. He also looks forward to connecting with the Golden Bear community.

“We are going to make this fun for the kids and the community,” said Dement. “If we do the little things right, big things will happen.”
