Questions & Answers:
Bond 2020 Renovations at Burbank HS

What is the status of renovations at Burbank High School?
Bond 2020 renovations are currently in design while Bond 2016 renovations at the campus are expected to wrap up in summer 2025.

What is included in the Bond 2020 renovation?
The Bond 2020 renovations will include additional classrooms and athletic spaces, including a new gym; mat and weight room; laundry room; coaches offices; and storage areas. Additionally, the campus will receive security and technology upgrades, along with all SAISD schools.

When will Bond 2020 construction begin?
Bond 2016 improvements must be completed before Bond 2020 work can begin under a new contractor. With Bond 2016 work expected to be completed in summer 2025 and the 2020 project design expected to be completed in late summer 2025, the district anticipates construction will begin fall 2025.

What changes can we expect on campus during construction?
When the project enters the 2020 construction phase and logistics have been mapped out, the district will communicate that information to campus leadership to share with families.

When will we be able to use the newly renovated spaces?
Once the projects are completed, a move-in date that coincides with a school break would need to be selected for move-in to the new spaces.

How will parents and students have a voice in the process?
Your principal will be forming a Project Advisory Team that includes parents, students, teachers, and community members to represent the larger Burbank community. The group will provide input on the project during the Bond 2020 design phase.

How can I stay informed about the progress of the project?
In addition to future community meetings and periodic updates from your campus, you can follow progress:

  - On the bond website. You can also use the Bond 2020 button at the bottom left of the Burbank High School homepage to link directly to your school’s project page.
