Renovation Projects Status
The 29* Bond 2020 construction projects are listed below in their current stage. The renovation projects were strategically placed into four phases to aid in the control of inflation and to adjust to the challenges of labor shortages and material delays. Phases 1 and 2 include completion of those schools with partial renovations under Bond 2016 or 2010. Phase 3 includes schools with large student populations (thus impacting the most students) and campuses that need additional space to accommodate growth. Phase 4 includes schools with smaller student populations.
Unprecedented levels of inflation have made it difficult to offset increased construction costs. As a result, Phase I and Phase 2 projects were modified to bring them as close to budget as possible. SAISD will continue to do this through the other two phases of this bond program.
Bond projects go through several stages from design, to bid, to construction to completion.
*Seven schools that were originally slated to receive bond renovations were identified for consolidation under the district’s Rightsizing Plan. Their bond dollars have been reallocated to three areas of focus: HVAC upgrades, safety and security projects, and critical-needs projects.
