Oct. 2 (Mon) – Jefferson High School Cadets teaching at Fenwick Academy

Mustang JROTC Cadets from the Thomas Jefferson Battalion will volunteer to teach grades K-5 at Fenwick Academy – where some cadets once attended – as part of the Junior Achievement program. The curriculum will focus on three essential core areas: entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and workplace preparedness.
Oct. 2-5 (Mon-Thurs) – SAISD Rightsizing Community Meetings
San Antonio ISD is holding a new round of neighborhood meetings on its rightsizing initiative, focusing on parent, staff and community feedback around the initial recommendation released Sept. 18. Meetings are being held at campuses impacted by the recommendation to hear firsthand the insight and feedback from these specific school communities.

Oct. 3 (Tues) – Highland Hills Elementary Hispanic Heritage Night

The Highland Hills Community is celebrating our rich Hispanic Culture during our Open House event. Student folklorico and choir performances will take place before families visit their child's classroom. The community is also invited to dress in honor of Hispanic Heritage month.
Oct. 4 (Wed) – U.S. Secretary of Education visits Twain Dual Language Academy

Dr. Miguel Cardona, the U.S. Secretary of Education will be touring Twain Dual Language Academy to see firsthand some of the best practices the campus uses in bilingual education. The Secretary will tour several classrooms with SAISD Superintendent Dr. Jaime Aquino, SAISD Board President Christina Martinez and Twain Academy Principal David Garcia. Secretary Cardona will then host a conversation with stakeholders. Press availability will be made after the roundtable discussion.
Oct. 5 (Thurs) – Wilson Elementary Hispanic Heritage Night
6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Highland Hills Elementary, 734 Glamis Ave., 78223
The student demographic at Wilson Elementary is diverse with students from Colombia, Honduras, El Salvador, and Peru, among other Latin American countries. This year’s Hispanic Heritage event will celebrate their rich cultures. Students will sing and dance to Spanish songs that represent the diversity of the Latin culture of the Wilson Elementary
familia.
