Our ideology is reflected in our fundamental beliefs, commitments and core values that guide us in our daily practices.

  • The Athletics Department has as its mission to engage our coaching staff every day through constant communication, motivation and encouragement to create a positive and meaningful athletic experience for our student-athletes and coaches. Our vision is to create a department that provides our coaches and student-athletes with the resources and opportunities needed to be successful at the highest level possible.

  • College, Career and Military Readiness works with schools and stakeholders to develop programs that prepare students for success in college, career and the military.

    Through a collaboration with post-secondary institutions, employers, educators, community and government leaders, we serve the San Antonio ISD community by providing students with a high level of preparedness For any post-secondary program beyond high school that leads to a credential (such as an industry license or certificate, associate's, or bachelor's degree), To enter and succeed in the workforce, with a career that leads to in-demand, high wage opportunities To enter and succeed in the military to continue their post-secondary education and serve our country.

  • The Department of Special Education Services promotes inclusion and supports students with disabilities in gaining college and career readiness, and independent living skills through a rigorous, nurturing learning environment, high-quality instruction, and support services that enable all students to reach their full potential.

  • The 504/Dyslexia Department oversees compliance with the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Section 504) which is a civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against persons with disabilities.  The department oversees identification of Section 504 eligible students as well as implementation of 504 Service Plans. In addition, we seek to identify students exhibiting characteristics of Dyslexia and once identified, provide targeted instruction in accordance with the Dyslexia Handbook 2021. Our ultimate goal is to prepare SAISD students with disabilities for future college and career readiness while assuring access to a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE).

  • The San Antonio ISD Early Childhood Education Department provides an acclaimed, high-quality educational program to eligible 3 and 4 year-olds through its state and district funded pre-kindergarten and federally funded Head Start programs.

    Our Early Childhood Education Program is designed to provide students a strong foundation for kindergarten and future learning through a curriculum that addresses their social, emotional, physical and cognitive development.

  • The mission of the Office of Family and Community Engagement is to successfully develop and implement programs and strategies to engage parents and the community as partners to continually improve the academic performance of students.

    We are able to achieve our mission by 1) building capacity across all campuses and 2) providing direct support and services to families and the community.

  • The State Compensatory Education (SCE) is a program designed to supplement the regular education program by providing compensatory, intensive, or accelerated instruction for students identified as at risk of dropping out of school.  Students become eligible for the program when they qualify for one or more of the state’s 14 criteria under Section 29.081 of the Texas Education Code (TEC).

  • The Office of Learning and Compliance Support Services (LCSS) in SAISD is responsible for ensuring that the San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD) is meeting curriculum and scheduling standards that are set forth by the Texas Education Agency. In conjunction with many other departments, our office safeguards programmatic models that guarantee student success in alignment with the mission and vision of SAISD while complying with all regulatory agencies and boards.

    Specifically, the Learning and Compliance Support Services Office is responsible for:

    • reviewing and editing district-wide Administrative Procedures;
    • facilitating the configuration of Elementary and Secondary Course Offering information;
    • directing the Middle School Partners Program;
    • coordinating the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support; and
    • overseeing the district-wide Individual Graduation Committee process.

    Because of the complex and intricate nature of each component listed above, many talented individuals work to make sure that each facet of our office integrates cohesively into the larger District structure. A list of staff and their general duties are listed beneath the next section
