Legislative: We serve as a liaison between San Antonio ISD and other governmental entities around public policy and other government functions. Those interactions include:
- Monitoring and shaping federal, state, and local policy.
- Assisting in the defining of SAISD’s policy priorities.
- Reviewing and analyzing current public policy and proposed legislation.
- Resolving constituent concerns that includes issues around school safety, public safety, enrollment, and infrastructure issues.
- Engaging elected officials to update them around major district issues and receive their input.
- Collaborating with other school districts on shared priorities.
- Coordinating with the Bexar County Elections Department and campus principals to provide campus-based polling sites; and
- Connecting campuses with elected officials for ceremonial events.
External: We link with community stakeholders and internal departments to best serve our SAISD Familia. This includes:
- Networking with and informing neighborhood associations, business community, faith groups at public events.
- Connecting with community stakeholders regarding pressing policy issues.
- Engaging and updating community stakeholders on major developments at SAISD.
- Coordinating with other District departments Community events to support families, such as back-to-school activities, Neighbors Together community safety events, and visits to the Texas Capitol; and
- Overseeing activities related to district-wide United Way charitable giving.
