    Career & Technical Education Department’s mission is committed to supporting SAISD’s mission of preparing our students for an ever changing world by providing rigorous instruction aligned with the demands and expectations of industry needs and local workforce. 

  • CTE Highlights

    San Antonio ISD offers 13 Programs of Study and over 125 different Career & Technical courses. Career Clusters include Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources, Architecture & Construction, Arts, Audio-Visual Technology, and Communications, Business, Marketing, and Finance, Education and Training, Energy, Health Science, Hospitality and Tourism, Human Services, Information Technology, Law and Public Service, Manufacturing, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), and Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics.


    Over 1300 industry certifications were earned by students enrolled in Career and Technical Education courses during the 2020-2021 school year.  A small sampling of the certifications earned includes Microsoft Office Specialist, Entrepreneurship Small Business, Automotive Service Excellence, NCCER Core Curriculum, Cosmetology Operator License, Adobe Certified Associate (ACA), Non-Commissioned Security Officer Level II.


    San Antonio ISD currently has 8 comprehensive high schools. Our district has 5 Pathways in Technology (P-Tech) programs.  These include Edison High School (School of Business P-Tech), Fox Tech High School (Nursing H-Tech), Highlands P-Tech (Aerospace, Engineering, Manufacturing, Welding), Lanier High School (Construction Science P-Tech), Sam Houston High School (CyberSecurity P-Tech).  SAISD has 5 Magnet programs to include Brackenridge High School (Media & Film), Edison High School (Health Professions & 1st Responders), Fox Tech High School (Health Profession), Fox Tech High School (Law Professions), Lanier High School (Architecture & Automotive Technology).  Our district also has two CAST Network campuses to include CAST Tech and CAST Med.  Lastly, our district has two IB Diploma Programme Pathways at Burbank High School and Jefferson High School.  All of our students will follow a coherent sequence of courses to help them prepare for their chosen careers.  SAISD students have an array of programs to choose from designed to prepare them for their chosen career of study.
