Office of School Design & Charter Partnerships
The Office of School Design & Charter Partnerships is charged with expanding great options in SAISD by partnering with stakeholders to develop new school models and redesigning existing neighborhood schools through the District’s “Annual Call for Quality Schools." Approved in-district charter schools receive increased autonomy over their time, talent, and resources in return for greater accountability in the form of a performance contract.
The office works with district leadership and the Board of Trustees to ensure quality authorizing and regulation of in-district charter schools consistent with Texas law. These efforts include collaborating with district departments to implement approved charter autonomies and guiding the processes for charter renewal, revocation, and probation.
The Office of School Design & Charter Partnerships also supports the creation and management of Senate Bill 1882 partnerships with mission-aligned nonprofits. These partnerships bring additional expertise and resources to in-district charter schools.
