Single Member Districts 1, 3, 4 and 7 will be on the ballot.

Requirements for a Candidate:
Current state law requires a candidate for trustee of an independent school district to be a qualified candidate under Texas Election Code Section 141.001 and Chapter 11 of the Texas Education Code. These requirements may also be found at Board Policy BBA (Legal), which may be accessed by clicking on https://pol.tasb.org/Home/Index/176 and inserting the policy code, “BBA,” in the search box.

An application for a place on the ballot must be filed with the secretary (or designated agent) of the school board. The application must be in accordance with the general requirements of Section 141.031 of the Election Code, including that it must be signed and sworn to before a person authorized to administer oaths in Texas. Currently, state law does not allow for appearance before a notary public via videoconference.

The application must be filed not later than 5:00 p.m. of the 78th day before the date of the election and may not be filed earlier than the 30th day before the filing deadline, as per Education Code Section 11.055.

It is the responsibility of the candidates to be informed about deadlines and timelines and to ensure that the documents they file are completed and notarized when required prior to filing them at the SAISD office.
