SAISD District Social Workers

SCHOOL SOCIAL WORK PURPOSE

School social workers are an integral link between school, home, and community in helping students achieve academic success. They work directly with school administrators as well as students and families, providing leadership in forming mental health intervention, crisis management, and support services. 

SAISD SOCIAL WORK PROGRAM

Social work services are delivered district wide and at the campus level in SAISD.  SAISD employs 37 licensed Master’s level professionals who deliver a broad scope of social work services.  Direct service provision to students is defined based heavily on the state of Texas’ “at-risk” criteria indicators within the Texas Education Code and adopted by the Texas Education Agency.

Referrals

REQUEST FOR SERVICES
The Social Service Referral Form is a confidential document used to request social services for students and families in need.  Administrators, parents/guardians, faculty and staff can refer students for a broad array of services provided by the SAISD Social Worker that include: academic, attendance, behavioral/emotional, financial need, food insecurity, homelessness, crisis intervention and other reasons.  In accordance with the National Association of Social Work (NASW) ethical guidelines, all referrals are securely handled.
