Oct 9 (Mon) – SAISD schools and offices closed Monday
All SAISD offices and campuses are closed on Monday, Oct. 9 in observance of the Indigenous Peoples holiday. Classes and offices will resume normal business hours on Tuesday, Oct. 10.
 
Oct 10-14 (Tues-Sat) – SAISD Rightsizing Community Meetings
San Antonio ISD is holding a new round of neighborhood meetings on its rightsizing initiative, focusing on parent, staff and community feedback around the initial recommendation released Sept. 18. Meetings are being held at campuses impacted by the recommendation to hear firsthand the insight and feedback from these specific school communities.

Oct 10 (Tues) – CAST Med HS Hispanic Heritage Night
6 p.m. to 8 p.m., CAST Med HS, 2601 Louis Bauer, 78235

CAST Med High School will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a huge celebration for families and the community. The CAST Med mariachis will perform, a wide array of Hispanic and Latino dishes will be served, and a people can win prizes playing Loteria!
 
Oct 11 (Wed) – SAISD Construction Career Day
9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Freeman Coliseum Expo Hall, 3201 E. Houston St., 78212

Three of SAISD's Construction programs will be participating at the 10th Annual Construction Career Day event at Freeman Coliseum. We will have teachers and their students from Lanier, Jefferson and Sam Houston high schools. The students will be exposed to the following:
• Hands-on Demonstrations
• Scholarship Opportunities
• Summer Internship Opportunities
• Local Craft Competition
• Mock Interviews and Resume Review
• Potential On-site Hiring
 
Oct 13 (Fri) – Zapatos, Inc. delivers new shoes to De Zavala Elementary
8:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., De Zavala Elementary, 2311 San Luis St., 78207

The non-profit group Zapatos, Inc. will deliver 150 pairs of new shoes to students at 
De Zavala Elementary. 
 
Oct 13 (Fri) – YMLA Hispanic Heritage Month Living Wax Museum
9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Young Men’s Leadership Family, 415 Gabriel St., 78202

Young Men’s Leadership Academy 5th grade students will participate in a Hispanic Heritage Month “Living Wax Museum" that brings famous and important Latino figures to life. Students will share their research by presenting information about their historical subjects while also getting into character with their personality and attire.

Oct 13 (Fri) – South Texas Symphonic Orchestra performs at Jefferson High School
9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Jefferson High School, 723 Donaldson Ave., 78201

Jefferson High School teacher Dr. Ronnie Sanders will present two concerts assisted by the members of the South Texas Symphonic Orchestra on the historic Jefferson High School campus. SAISD music teachers from across the district will be bringing their students to inspire the next generation of performers.
 
Oct 14 (Sat) – Lanier High School Solar Eclipse STEM event
9 a.m. to Noon, Lanier High School, 1514 W. Cesar Chavez Blvd., 78207

The Lanier High School STEM Department is set to provide hands-on fun for the whole family including rockets, science experiments, and so much more for the annular solar eclipse.
