Oct 21 (Sat) – Irving Dual Language Academy Parent Learning Academy
9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., Irving Dual Language Academy, 1300 Delgado St., 78207
This Parent Learning Academy, in its first year, will provide parents with hands-on learning of key strategies used by campus staff at Irving Dual Language Academy. Parents will have an opportunity to visit classrooms and see teaching and learning in action. Parents will also have an opportunity to practice the strategies they learned with their own child. The goal is to increase the learning potential of students at home.
Oct 23-24 (Mon-Tues) – SAISD Rightsizing Community Meetings – Round 2
San Antonio ISD is holding a new round of neighborhood meetings on its rightsizing initiative, focusing on parent, staff and community feedback around the initial recommendation released Sept. 18. Meetings are being held at campuses impacted by the recommendation to hear firsthand the insight and feedback from these specific school communities.

The campus is hosting its annual family friendly event for the entire community. A spooky good time is guaranteed for all with the games, activities and treats on campus.
Oct 26 (Thurs) – Riverside Park Trunk-or-Treat
5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Riverside Park Elementary, 202 School St., 78210
Riverside Park is combing its Open House with a “Trunk-or-Treat.” Students and families will enjoy “Spooky Bus” tours, concession stands, games and more. The San Antonio Fire Department will be present passing out treats, plus community agencies will provide information on valuable resources for families.
Oct 26 (Thurs) – Irving Dual Language Academy 100-year Celebration
5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Irving Dual Language Academy, 1300 Delgado St., 78207
Irving Dual Language Academy is turning 100 years old, and the community is invited to celebrate a century of learning on the west side of San Antonio. The Irving campus is one of eight original SAISD junior high schools that debuted in 1923. Festivities will include student performances from the band, mariachis and cheerleaders. Food and drinks will be available to purchase, along with games and a moon bouncy house.
Oct 27 (Fri) – Poe Middle School Centennial Celebration
8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Poe Middle School, 814 Aransas Ave., 78210
Poe Middle School is another of SAISD’s original eight junior high schools that are turning 100 years old this year. Poe Middle School marches into its next century of educating children with a celebration that is open to the community. After an opening ceremony, guests will be able to take a nostalgic tour of the school. Student art works will also be on display.
