STUDENT VOICES: Eternity Love and Natalie Guerrero, Sam Houston High School sophomores
Eternity and Natalie can speak to their goals of proving that women can work in the construction industry

As SAISD and LIUNA unveil their new partnership in creating the first pre-apprenticeship in the district, Eternity Love and Natalie Guerrero are eager to break the glass ceiling of the construction field. They are often told how there are not many women working in construction, or if they do, the careers do not last long. They are easily outnumbered in their classes at school. Yet all this motivates the young ladies to prove the doubters wrong. Because so far, these two students say they are intrigued with the possibilities where a career in construction could take them.

“I really want to prove people wrong. It motivates me to learn more and get better every day. Girls can do the work just like the boys. And we can be very good at it, if not better,” said Eternity Love “I love working with power tools. I love making things with my hands.”

Eternity and Natalie will be among the student presenters at the official announcement of the SAISD/LIUNA partnership to establish the LEARN Construction Craft Laborer high school program at Sam Houston High School. (Event details below) They both will be available for interviews then or we can schedule those at another time.
