Dec. 12 (Tues) – Holiday Mega Food Distribution feeds 1,000 families
9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Alamo Stadium parking lot, 110 Tuleta Drive, 78212
The San Antonio Food Bank and San Antonio ISD are partnering to ensure families in the school district have food to eat this holiday season. The Holiday Mega Food Distribution is the district’s largest food distribution event of the year. One thousand families are invited to this drive-through event at Alamo Stadium. Those expected to be present include Harvey Najim, philanthropist and sponsor of the event, as well as several SAISD board members, and about 80 staff members from the district and food bank.
 
Dec. 12 (Tues) – SAISD Community Meeting – Steele Montessori Academy
6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Highlands High School auditorium, 3118 Elgin Ave., 78210
The district will seek input from the Steele Montessori community to consider various options in relocating the campus.
 
Dec. 13 (Wed) – Bonham Academy Las Posadas/Winter Festival
2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Bonham Academy, 925 S. St. Mary’s St., 78205
Bonham Academy students and families are invited to the Las Posadas/Winter Festival on campus. As a dual language school, Bonham Academy has a strong history of celebrating the rich culture and traditions of the Spanish speaking community through events like the annual Las Posadas. The event has grown to include so much more, including performances by Bobcat student groups, along with food booths and class fundraisers. 
 
Dec. 15 (Fri) – J.T. Brackenridge Elementary 3rd annual 5K race
8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., J.T. Brackenridge Elementary, 1214 Guadalupe St., 78207
The Puro Westside Run Squad (P.W.R.S.) is having their 3rd annual 5K race. This is a local race for the J.T. students who train hard for two months to compete in this race. This program was created to give elementary aged kids an opportunity to participate in organized sports rather than wait until middle school or pay to join an outside club for the opportunity. P.W.R.S. also instills values of discipline, accountability and respect for the students’ beautiful westside community.

Dec. 15 (Fri) – Washington Elementary Snow Day
1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Washington Elementary, 1823 Nolan St., 78202
Kids often dream of “snow days.” Washington Elementary is making that a reality for its students. Snow will be brought onto campus for the students to happily frolic with friends before beginning their winter break.
 
Dec. 16 (Sat) – Hirsch Elementary Project Wee Kare Delivery Party
Noon to 2 p.m., Hirsch Elementary, 4826 Sea Breeze Drive, 78220
Project Wee Kare is a nonprofit organization that sponsors families in need during the holidays by providing presents, clothing and a turkey. This year the organization is sponsoring over 40 Hirsch Elementary families, which includes 160 children between the ages of 0-18 years old.
