Come and learn about the history of SAISD's Young Men's Leadership Academy while enjoying the sights and sounds of a classic car show. Families will learn about YMLA was founded, where the school is now, and what the future holds for the east side campus. Information on all the academic and extra-curricular opportunities that exist for students at YMLA will also be available. Families can get a jump start on registration by applying for their son to enroll at YMLA for the 2024-2025 school year.

Jan. 14 (Sun) – Young Men’s Leadership Academy MLK 5K

The Young Men’s Leadership Academy 5K Run is a fundraising event for the school. It also serves as a demonstration of their support for Martin Luther King Jr.’s message of resilience and equality. YMLA is the first all-boys public school in San Antonio. Its mission is to develop young men into highly effective scholars, thinkers, and leaders by providing a high-quality comprehensive educational and social experience leading to a distinguished high school graduation plan. All proceeds from this event fund YMLA student programming.
 
Jan. 15 (Mon) – SAISD schools and offices closed for MLK holiday
All SAISD offices and campuses will be closed on Monday, Jan. 15 in observance of the MLK holiday. Schools and offices return to normal business hours on Tuesday, Jan. 16.
 
Jan. 15 (Mon) – SAISD Familia joins annual San Antonio MLK March
10 a.m., Martin Luther King Jr. Academy, 3501 Martin Luther King Drive, 78203
The SAISD familia is set to join fellow citizens at the largest MLK march in the nation. Superintendent Dr. Jaime Aquino and SAISD Board Trustees will join a group of more than 200 members of the SAISD familia at the march on the city’s east side. The starting point is Martin Luther King Jr. Academy. The Sam Houston JROTC leads with the color guard. The Young Men’s Leadership Academy LOTC will proudly carry the lead MLK March banner.
