In her own words...

For as long as I can remember, I was much different than other kids. Most five-year-olds want to be astronauts, police officers, or ballerinas. I, on the other hand, didn't know what I wanted to be. One thing was always consistent. I had a knack for helping people.

My parents and grandparents have always been involved in organizing church events and supplying those who were less fortunate with whatever they needed. So, from a young age I had an exposure to servitude. This has not changed. My parents taught me that it's more important to give than to receive, so that is what I try to do. Much of my time, when I’m not in class, has been spent as a child wrangler for our theater productions, designing shirts for our school, and giving information sessions about my school.

All of these roles have required me to be open to change, build patience, and how to interact with people of various age groups. However, I still felt like I was unsure of what I wanted to do with my life and what my place was. Not only that, but to make something that would make my parents and myself proud.

But after some soul searching, I realized I had a passion for helping others which coupled with a love for science. With both of those things in mind I have decided to double major in Biology with an emphasis in Nutrition and Spanish with the hopes of becoming a Clinical Nutrition Consultant, similar to those at organizations like Doctors without Borders. Without that push from my mom and the support of my teachers, peers, I wouldn't have these dreams in mind at all. But even if life takes me down a different path, all I truly hope to do in life is to provide for others the way my parents and grandparents taught me.
