Lewis will attend Washington & Lee University as a Questbridge Scholar to study biology.

What is the greatest challenge you have overcome during your education so far and how did you overcome it? 

I was kicked out of my house at the end of my Junior year. Dealing with homelessness and such insecurities, I had to evaluate what aspects of my life were most important, and school was honestly put into question. However, I was passionate about going to college and making a name for myself in a way many people in my situation would never be given the chance to. Thanks to the support systems in place at my school, I was able to pull through and stay motivated. 


Who has been most influential to you in your education and why?

I never really had a positive role model until I got to St Philip’s, and that changed when I met my freshman math teacher, Ms. Gomez. Since then, many of my teachers have been instrumental in me becoming the person I am today and the person I wish to be in the future. 

As a leader of the Class of 2022, what is your hope for the Class of 2022 as they move on to the next chapter of their lives? 

I grew up alongside this class over the past four years, and I can’t wait to see what they become.  I just hope they can become something great.
