Why did you choose this pathway?

“I found that my fascination with healthcare and nursing peaked during my junior and senior years of high school. During those years I had the opportunity to get hands-on experience of practicing medicine. The exposure I received further excelled my interest in medicine. The rush I felt, knowing that I can use the skills that I am learning to save a life, has made me committed to majoring in Nursing. I once read a quote by Val Saintsbury that said, “Nurses dispense comfort, compassion, and caring without a prescription.” As a nurse, I will be able to do and be more and make a difference for my community. I hope to become the person others will need.”

As a leader of the class of 2023, what is your hope for the Class of 2023 as they move on to the next chapter of their lives?

“My hope for the class of 2023 is that they continue to live their life how they want to live it without regrets. I hope that they find happiness and fulfillment in whatever they choose to do as they move forward in life.”

Who has been most influential to you in your education this far and why?

“The two most influential people in my life have been my mother, Michelle Brown, and my teacher, Jennifer Casanova. In the classroom, Miss Casanova has taught me how to better advocate for myself, how to express my beliefs in a way that others will be inspired by and taught me how to see the positive in all outcomes. My mom has been my biggest supporter. She has taught me to kill ‘em with kindness, speak my truth, and not to take any moment for granted.”

As a leader of the class of 2023, what is your hope for the Class of 2023 as they move on to the next chapter of their lives?

“My hope for the class of 2023 is to keep learning and loving. Learn more and more each day and help teach others. Love more and more each day. Love your friends, family, and even the people you disagree with. We are entering a world filled with hurt, anger, and pain. The least we can do to make the world better for not only ourselves but others, is to learn and love all the time.”
