What are your plans for next year and why did you choose this path?

I plan to join the Navy. It's somewhere that I would learn new things, be in a new different environment, and be secure after, if I want to go to school after and pursue psychology.

I chose psychology because I had a troubled life growing up, so I always felt that I wanted to help children who went through what I went through. I wanted somebody to be there for me.

How have SAISD schools shaped you into the person you are today?

I started SAISD in Elementary. I went to De Zavala. I loved it. It was the best for me. I had a good childhood there. My teachers were amazing. I had friends. Sadly, I left SAISD and I went to a charter school but I kept telling my grandma to please put me in SAISD. I always knew that SAISD was for me. I always had support in my corner. I always had teachers I made relationships with, friends I still talk to, and it’s just something that I know was right for me to do. SAISD has always shown me love.

As a leader of the Class of 2025, what is your hope for the Class of 2025 as they move on to the next chapter of their lives?

I hope they will not let their mistakes get in the way of their education and not let what they’ve done in the past make it seem like they can’t change. They can do that. They’re able to change. They’re able to get a better outcome. I went through that myself. I went through a tough childhood. I went through a lot of things. I was rebellious at one point. But I changed my ways and I was able to graduate early and do better for myself. I want them to know that your mistakes don’t define you at all. You can change the path that you are going through and you can do better for yourself and have a better future.

What are your plans for next year and why did you choose this path?

I’m planning to go to Texas A&M San Antonio to get my degree in geology with a focus on paleontology. I’ve always had an interest in paleontology. Everybody goes for the dinosaurs but there are many more species that were there before and after the dinosaurs that are just as intriguing. I just wanted to go and see what I can achieve there.

How have SAISD schools shaped you into the person you are today?

The staff here at Phoenix have shaped me tremendously. This school has really helped me grow. Before, I was more closed in, and I didn’t really like talking to people. As opposed to now I’ve really gotten a lot more outgoing. This place has made me much more active in the school environment, which I’m thankful for, but it’s also given me a lot of skills and people that I feel comfortable turning to and talking to.

My teachers have inspired me. They’ve all motivated me tremendously. They pushed me. They believed in me. That’s something I wasn’t quite used to. It’s really something I appreciate more than I outwardly express. I truly do think they’ve changed me for the better.

People here motivate me. I see my friends here doing the best they can, trying with all their might, and it makes me want to try more.

As a leader of the Class of 2025, what is your hope for the Class of 2025 as they move on to the next chapter of their lives?

I hope for class of 2025, because I have friends who go to different schools, I hope we all succeed in the paths we are going to. I hope everyone in the class of 2025 goes out and changes the world, even if it is just a little bit, because it adds up.

Fui a De Zavala.

Me impulsaron.
