How have SAISD schools shaped you into the person you are today?

Throughout my years in SAISD schools, I've never felt that I couldn't find someone I could relate with on different levels, whether it our ethnicity, beliefs, or our financial situations and that is because of diversity. I've been grateful to be surrounded by a bunch of people from different backgrounds because it has allowed me to grow as a person and realize that even though we all go through different adversaries that we can still form relationships.

What’s the greatest challenge you’ve overcome during your education, and how did you overcome it?

The greatest challenge I have overcome during my education so far is my confidence. I used to think and still do at times that I'm not worthy of the recognition that I've been given, but I was given recognition because of the work I've put in. Even though, I still haven't overcome it completely, I am improving and am better than I once was.

As a leader of the Class of 2025, what is your hope for the class as they move on to the next chapter of their lives?

When thinking of the next chapter of my life, I get full of anxiety because it's so scary thinking that I very soon will have to step into it. I want everyone to accomplish their goals and become better, if not the best versions of themselves. I truly hope the class of 2025 can grow and find themselves, no matter what life throws at them.

What are your plans for next year and why did you choose this path?

My plans for next year are to go to college for four years to get my bachelor's degree in education. I chose this path to further my education and one day become a teacher. The impact that my past teachers had on my education always resonates with me as the main factor in becoming a teacher. Throughout my academic journey, there have been teachers who have given me a safe place to be myself and always believed in me.

How have SAISD schools shaped you into the person you are today?

The SAISD schools have shaped me because they are not just a community; they are a family. Throughout my entire education, I have been surrounded by diversity and acceptance. I truly feel that without the support of SAISD, I wouldn’t have had as many opportunities as I have today.

Who has been most influential to you in your education this far and why?

The person who has been most influential on my education has been my theater teacher, Mr. Reese. Though I had the opportunity to be taught by a lot of great teachers over the years, Mr. Reese was the first teacher to teach me that I shouldn't be afraid of taking risks and trying new things, because you never know where it might lead you to.
