St. Philip's Early College High School
Class of 2025 Valedictorian
Zaria Wilson-Blair

What are your plans for next year and why did you choose this path?

My plan for next year is to attend Howard University in Washington, DC where I would major in Finance. I chose to major in Finance because I have a compassion for numbers and would like to become a real estate agent or a financial advisor.

How have SAISD schools shaped you into the person you are today?

SAISD has helped me establish great communication, leadership, and study skills. It has helped me set a foundation for me to be successful in all my endeavors. I have learned to set and accomplish my goals and manage my time.

What’s the greatest challenge you’ve overcome during your education, and how did you overcome it?

As I entered high school, I challenged myself even further by enrolling in dual credit courses, balancing both high school and college-level coursework. This transition was overwhelming at times, as I had to manage a more challenging workload while maintaining strong academic performance.

What are your plans for next year and why did you choose this path?

My plan for next year is to attend UTSA and pursue Mechanical Engineering. I chose this major because I like the idea of being able to create anything that comes to your mind. I also chose this major because my parents have been supportive of me to pursue what I want.

Who has been most influential to you in your education this far and why?

The people who have been the most influential are my family, my friends and my teachers. My family is very supportive and have shown that they are proud of me which motivates me more, my teachers are also supportive, and they have seen me grow since freshman year. And finally, my friends have also been a great influence in my education because we have been through this journey together, through the fun, sad, and difficult times.

As a leader of the Class of 2025, what is your hope for the class as they move on to the next chapter of their lives?

What I hope for the class of 2025 is to pursue their dreams, yes it may sound cliché but it's true. That they are able to stay on track and though we know that it will not be easy we know that we can come back. Because that's what we did after the pandemic. Yes, it was a hard change for us all, but in the end, we pulled through and now we are able to look back and see how far we have come. So what I mean is that I hope that the class of 2025 can grow and, in the end, look back and see that anything is possible because they are living proof.

He aprendido a establecer y lograr mis metas y administrar mi tiempo.
