As a ‘thank you’ for their committed service in San Antonio ISD, district police officers received a present that will only grow in value as time goes on. On Tuesday, Dec. 14, a fitness center at the SAISD Police Station was unveiled. 

The gym of the former school was revitalized and furnished with 30 pieces of fitness equipment, a gift from Planet Fitness and the Taymax Franchise. The refurbished equipment includes cardio machines, strength machines, a dumbbell rack, and more. 

Representatives from Planet Fitness held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the unveiling of 1,500 square foot space, which they also helped the officers restore.

The new SAISD Police Department Wellness Center aligns with Planet Fitness’ mission to enhance people’s lives by providing a high-quality fitness experience in a welcoming, non-intimidating environment, which the company calls their Judgement Free Zone.

For a number of years, Planet Fitness has provided local police officers with discounted memberships to gyms in the area through their Emergency Services Program. Studies show that fitness activities can have positive effects on the overall mental and physical well-being of first responders.
