Spring has arrived in full force with celebrations of Fiesta and Easter holidays. At schools around the district, teachers are getting a chance to get in on the fun as well with cascarones and egg hunts. 

At Ogden Elementary, the leadership team sponsored a teacher egg hunt with some pretty great prizes in those eggs. 

“Back in March, we noticed that teachers were under a lot of stress,” principal Nicanora Martinez said. “We came with the idea of having an egg hunt to celebrate the teachers and bring joy into the workplace.”

To put together the event, the leaders on campus secretly put together the coupons, eggs, and candies late after school on a Monday. Principal Martinez called a faculty meeting April 13. When the teachers arrived to the library for the meeting, the other campus leaders were hiding the eggs on the playground.

Martinez led the teachers into the hall and explained what was about to happen. 

"I announced that this school year has brought a lot of firsts and today would be another one,” Martinez said. “We were going to have our very first annual egg hunt for teachers with the intention to bring happiness, joy, and let them know how much we appreciated their hard work.” 

The only stipulation was that teachers could not take a basket. They could only carry what they could hold, but they could be creative! 

As teachers started finding and opening eggs, they realized there were some pretty special prizes inside, including coupons for tacos, sodas, extra lunch time, and the two golden tickets: jeans for the rest of the year, and extra conference time when a leader covers their class. 

““We wanted to do something to let them know that we appreciated their hard work and that it does not go unnoticed,” Martinez said.

Ha llegado la primavera con las celebraciones de Fiesta y de Pascua. Los maestros en las escuelas en todo el distrito tienen la oportunidad de participar de la diversión con cascarones y búsquedas de huevos de Pascua. 

 
En Ogden Elementary, el equipo de liderazgo organizó una búsqueda de huevos de Pascua con premios geniales. 

 
“En marzo, notamos que los maestros estaban bajo mucho estrés”, dijo la directora Nicanora Martinez. “Se nos ocurrió la idea de tener una búsqueda de huevos de Pascua para celebrar a los maestros y traer alegría al lugar de trabajo”.

 
Los líderes escolares se reunieron en secreto para organizar cupones, huevos de Pascua y dulces después de clases el lunes. La directora Martinez programó una reunión del personal el 13 de abril. Cuando los maestros llegaron a la biblioteca para la reunión, los demás líderes escolares estaban escondiendo los huevos de Pascua en el patio.

 
Martinez les explicó a los maestros lo que estaba a punto de suceder. 

 
"Anuncié que este año escolar han sucedido muchas cosas por primera vez, y hoy no sería la excepción”, dijo Martinez. “Íbamos a tener nuestra primera búsqueda anual de huevos de Pascua para los maestros con la intención de traer felicidad, alegría y para que sepan lo mucho que apreciamos su ardua labor”. 

 
La única condición era que los maestros no podían usar una canasta. Solo podían recoger lo que podían cargar, ¡pero podían ser creativos! 

 
A medida que los maestros encontraron y abrieron los huevos de Pascua, se dieron cuenta de que había premios especiales adentro como cupones para tacos, sodas, tiempo extra de almuerzo y dos boletos dorados: pantalones de mezclilla por el resto del año, y tiempo extra de conferencia cuando un líder se encarga de su clase. 

 
“Queríamos hacer algo para mostrar que apreciamos su ardua labor y que no pasa desapercibida”, dijo Martinez.
