The San Antonio ISD Police Department was treated to a breakfast and lunch of appreciation Friday, just days after 28 units responded to Jefferson High School ensuring students were safe after a false alarm call. 

Students from Huppertz Elementary, an International Baccalaureate World School, created thank-you cards for the officers, and campus staff sponsored the breakfast and lunch spread. 

“Many of our scholars have siblings at Jefferson High School so they were very thankful that our officers worked quickly to ensure everyone was safe,” Veronika Gutierrez, IB Primary Years Programme Coordinator at Huppertz, said. “My teachers worked diligently with their scholars to put together letters for our district officers. The staff took it a step further by pitching in to provide them with tacos and donuts for breakfast and pizza for lunch.”

The officers took the time to read each of the colorful, hand-written expressions of gratitude taped to the walls along the hallway.

“I stood by and watched as officers read the cards and it was like watching life being breathed back into them,” Lt. Daniel Houston said.

El Departamento de Policía de San Antonio ISD recibió un desayuno y almuerzo de agradecimiento el viernes, justo unos días después de que 28 unidades respondieron a Jefferson High School para garantizar que los estudiantes estuvieran seguros después de una llamada de falsa alarma.

Los estudiantes de Huppertz Elementary, un Colegio del Mundo del Bachillerato Internacional, crearon tarjetas de agradecimiento para los policías y el personal escolar patrocinó el banquete.

“Muchos de nuestros estudiantes tienen hermanos o hermanas en Jefferson High School, por lo que estuvieron muy agradecidos de que nos policías trabajaran rápidamente para garantizar que todos estuvieran seguros”, dijo Veronika Gutierrez, Coordinadora del Programa de la Escuela Primaria de IB en Huppertz. “Mis maestros trabajaron diligentemente con sus estudiantes para escribirles cartas a nuestros policías del distrito. El personal cooperó para comprarles tacos y donas para el desayuno y pizza para el almuerzo”.

Los policías se tomaron el tiempo para leer cada una de las expresiones de gratitud coloridas y escritas a mano que estaban pegadas a las paredes en el pasillo.

“Yo observe mientras los policías leyeron las tarjetas y era como si les volviera el alma al cuerpo”, dijo el Teniente Daniel Houston.
