Three SAISD high schools score in San Antonio's Top 10 for 2023, according to new rankings from U.S. News & World Report released Tuesday, Aug. 29. The news organization has been ranking schools nationwide since 2007. This year, the Young Women's Leadership Academy was ranked No. 2 in the San Antonio area. Travis Early College High School is No. 6. Advanced Learning Academy is No. 7.
In the state, Young Women’s Leadership Academy ranked No. 14, Travis Early College High School ranked No. 89, and the Advanced Learning Academy is No. 100. Young Women’s Leadership Academy also ranked No. 124 in the nation.
According to its website, the highest-ranked public schools on U.S. News & World Report's 2023 Best High Schools list are those whose students demonstrated outstanding outcomes above expectations in math, reading and science state assessments, earned qualifying scores in an array of college-level exams, and graduated in high proportions.
Under U.S. News’ 2023 rankings methodology, most public high schools in the country are ranked. U. S. News ranks schools based on six indicators: college readiness (30%), college curriculum breadth (10%), state assessment proficiency (20%), state assessment performance (20%), underserved student performance (10%), and graduation rate (10%).
U.S. News does not collect any information directly from high schools. The data used to produce the Best High Schools rankings comes from third-party sources, including The Common Core of Data from the U.S. Department of Education; statewide math, reading and science assessment data; Advanced Placement examination data from The College Board; and International Baccalaureate examination data from International Baccalaureate.
