06/11/2020

summer readingSan Antonio ISD is hosting two reading programs for students this summer – online book clubs with surprise celebrity readings and a bus-stop initiative called Roll into Reading.

Summer Book Clubs

The Summer Book Clubs will run six weeks from June 10 through July 23. Students are invited to join a book club for their grade level, from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. The clubs will bring together a community of readers to discuss their books and share ideas.

June 23: Cameron, Pershing, Lamar and Washington
June 25: Woodlawn Hills, Huppertz, Mission, and Foster
July 7: Bonham, Margil, and Hirsch
July 9: Democracy Prep, Highland Hills, Japhet, and Highland Park
July 14: Madison and Crockett
July 15: Arnold and Baskin
July 16: Ball, Forbes, Sarah King and Lowell
July 21: Cameron, Pershing, Lamar and Washington
July 22: Woodlawn Hills, Huppertz, Mission, and Foster
July 23: Bonham, Margil, and Hirsch
July 28: Democracy Prep, Highland Hills, Japhet, and Highland Park

Most importantly, students who benefit from Roll into Reading, as well as students throughout the District, are encouraged to join the Summer Book Clubs. Overall, SAISD will have distributed close to 15,000 books to students in our neighborhoods when the Roll into Reading program ends. The program would not have been possible without the generous support of the SAISD Foundation and book donors Better World Books and Literati, financial support from the Cavaliers, and an army of volunteers who want to see as many kids as possible get quality books in their hands.
