This year, San Antonio ISD welcomes 11 new campus administrators for the 2021-2022 school year. They are eager to embark on the school year. Congratulations to the following principals:
Andre'a Pitts – Woodlawn Academy
Andre'a Pitts graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler, Texas and attended Tyler Junior College, where she earned an associate degree in University Studies. Pitts then transferred to the University of Texas at San Antonio, where she contributed photos to the campus newspaper and was a member of a social issues theater group and earned a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. Pitts has served SAISD in the capacity of a Pre-K Instructional Assistant, 2nd and 3rd grade teacher, and held leadership roles such as Reading Cadre and Math Trainer of Trainers for her campus. In 2014, she earned her master's degree in School Counseling from Lamar University, and served as a Counselor, Assistant Principal, and Associate Principal. Her philosophy is anchored in making learning an experience for all students and equipping them with the skills necessary to thrive as well-rounded individuals serving a greater purpose than self. Pitts truly believes a village of family, educators, and community members working together will empower all students.
Dr. Rose Engelbrecht – Hot Wells Middle School
Now in her 14th year as principal, 13 of which were at the elementary level, Dr. Rose Engelbrecht joins the new Hot Wells Middle School as principal. In total, Engelbrecht brings 27 years of experience to her new role, having served as a teacher in elementary, middle, and high school as well as at the university level. She believes students learn valuable skills that lead to lifelong career interests and hobbies through not only academics, but participation in projects of interest. The proud mother of three children says she looks forward to serving her community and making a difference in the lives of her students at Hot Wells Middle School. It is her mission to provide them with the tools necessary to grow and become successful, contributing members of society.
John Gomez – Margil Elemenetary School
Mr. Gomez has rejoined San Antonio Independent School District as a Principal at Margil Elementary School. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin and his master's degree at Texas A&M. His educational experience consists of many years of working in SAISD as a teacher, counselor, assistant principal, principal and associate superintendent. His goal is to recharge, rebuild and restart Margil to achieve academic excellence.
Dr. Delinda Castro – Brackenridge High School
Dr. Delinda Castro has spent 28 years of her professional career in education. She served previously as the director of the attendance and graduation program in the Office of School Leadership at SAISD. As an educational executive leader, Castro joins Brackenridge High School with a demonstrated history of student success. She specialized in school transformation, school turn around and strategic design, working closely to improve attendance and reduce four-year dropout rates that saw proven results. With a Doctorate in Educational Leadership & Policy (CSP IXX), Castro graduated from The University of Texas at Austin. She received her masters degree from the University of North Texas and a bachelor’s of science degree from Texas A&M University. Her proudest accomplishments include being the founding principal of the P-TECH program at Sam Houston High School, as well as serving as South San ISD’s Chief Academic Officer launching an Early College High School. Castro is credited for accomplishing a 1-to1 device initiative in 2015 and starting three choice middle schools (STEM, Fine Arts and Health Science).
Randolph Neuenfeldt – St. Philip’s Early College High School
Randy Neuenfeldt is the new principal of the St. Philip’s Early College High School. He has had a career in education for the last 18 years – 12 in leadership roles – at two specialized high schools and led two magnet high schools that achieved national recognition for academic performance and serving historically under-represented students. He has served on numerous educational panels across the city, hosted international business leaders and was an HEB Excellence in Education Semi-Finalist. Neuenfeldt is a San Antonio native, graduating from Theodore Roosevelt High School on the city's east side. He holds a bachelor's degree from St. Mary's University and a master's degree from UTSA in educational leadership. He and his wife have two high school aged children.
Dr. Cassie McClung – Fenwick Academy
Dr. Cassie McClung is an experienced principal with a demonstrated history of working in the education management industry. McClung graduated with a Doctor of Education degree from Texas A&M University-Kingsville and brings 11 years of experience within SAISD to her new role as principal at Fenwick Academy. She has served as principal, assistant principal, and teacher for 4th grade, Title 1, and Head Start. Endorsed by her peers in education, McClung is proud of her many skills, including classroom management, lesson planning, educational technology, Instructional design, and public speaking.
Raymond Macias – Riverside Park Elementary School
Raymond Macias was raised in San Antonio and graduated from O’Connor High School. He earned his degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University and the University of Texas-San Antonio, and obtained his Master of Education in Educational Leadership & Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington. He has a passion for inspiring growth and grit among his students. Macias brings 13 years of experience in various grade levels, including Special Education. He served as a Lifestrides teacher at Poe Middle School, and he taught in the Behavior Mastery Center within Northside ISD. Previously, Macias worked as vice principal at Paul W. Ott Elementary and principal at Patricia J. Blattman in NISD. He returned to SAISD and served as the Knox Early Childhood Education Center principal during the 2020-21 school year. Macias firmly believes that an early start is vital for learners and all students deserve the opportunity to learn at high levels.
Tabitha Palencia – Knox Early Childhood Education Center
Tabitha Palencia is a proud product of San Antonio ISD. She joins Knox Early Childhood Education Center as the school’s new principal. Prior to this role, Palencia served as an assistant principal for seven years. She taught in the classroom as well, both 2nd and 5th grades. Palencia received her Bachelor of Arts degree in early childhood education and liberal studies from Smith College as well as educational administration and educational leadership and administration from Concordia University. She is passionate about education and her students as she joins a growing group of educators and students at Knox.
Virginia Parker – Highland Park Elementary School
Virginia Parker is the new principal of Highland Park Elementary and joins the school with numerous accolades in the field of education. Parker has previously served as a 1st grade teacher and has worked with students ranging in age from kindergarten to 5th grade. She holds a bachelor's degree in fine arts from Columbus College of Art and Design, as well as a master's degree in educational leadership from Concordia University. Parker strongly believes in the equity of educational opportunities for all students. She says she enjoys learning from her students every day and is passionate about the work she gets to do at school.
Jennifer Elwood – Young Women's Leadership Academy: Primary
Jennifer Elwood joins YWLA Primary as a dedicated educator who has experience in the classroom as a teacher and specialist, as well as an assistant principal. Elwood is endorsed by her peers in education in areas such as lesson planning, differentiated instruction, and elementary education. She graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a degree in communications and public relations. After that, Elwood obtained a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in reading curriculum and instruction from Grand Canyon University and a principal’s certification from Texas A&M University-Kingsville.
Blanca Gebhart, Interim – Bonham Academy
Blanca Gebhart is no stranger to Bonham Academy. The 2021-2022 school year will be her 20th year at Bonham. She has been named as interim principal and comes with experience as a dual language teacher for 11 years and assistant principal for six years. Gebhart grew up in Brownsville and started out in education in the Bilingual Department in the Brownsville ISD in the 80's. She then worked in state government in Austin before becoming a teacher. She is excited to lead Bonham Academy and has no doubt of its success because of its strong community of families and students.

En 2014, recibió una maestría en Consejería Escolar de Lamar University y sirvió como consejera, subdirectora y directora auxiliar. Su filosofía se basa en lograr que el aprendizaje sea una experiencia para todos los estudiantes y en prepararlos con las habilidades necesarias para progresar como personas equilibradas que sirven un mayor propósito. Pitts realmente cree que un equipo de parientes, educadores y miembros de la comunidad que trabajan juntos podrán empoderar a todos los estudiantes.
Dra. Rose Engelbrecht – Hot Wells Middle School
Este es el año 14 como directora para la Dra. Rose Engelbrecht, 13 de los cuales pasó al nivel de primaria, y ahora se une a la nueva Hot Wells Middle School. En total, Engelbrecht cuenta con 27 años de experiencia ya que sirvió como maestra de primaria, secundaria y preparatoria, al igual que al nivel universitario. Su misión es proporcionarles las herramientas necesarias para crecer y llegar a ser personas exitosas que aportan a la sociedad.
John Gomez – Margil Elemenetary School
El Sr. Gomez ha regresado al Distrito Escolar Independiente de San Antonio como Director de Margil Elementary School. Recibió su licenciatura de The University of Texas at Austin y su maestría de Texas A&M. Su experiencia educativa se forma de muchos años trabajando como maestro, consejero, director auxiliar, director y superintendente auxiliar. Su meta es potenciar, restaurar y reiniciar a Margil para lograr la excelencia académica.
Dra. Delinda Castro – Brackenridge High School
La Dra. Delinda Castro ha pasado 28 años de su carrera profesional en la educación. Ha servido como la directora de asistencia y del programa de graduación en la Oficina de Liderazgo Escolar en SAISD. Castro se une a Brackenridge High School como líder ejecutiva educativa con un historial de éxito estudiantil. Ella ha mejorado la asistencia y reducido las tasas de abandono escolar gracias a su especialización en la transformación escolar, la mejoría escolar y el diseño estratégico. Castro se graduó de The University of Texas at Austin con un doctorado en Liderazgo y Políticas de la Educación (CSP IXX). Randolph Neuenfeldt – St. Philip’s Early College High School
Randy Neuenfeldt es el nuevo director de St. Philip’s Early College High School. Dra. Cassie McClung – Fenwick Academy
La Dra. Cassie McClung es una directora con experiencia y un historial de trabajo en el sector de administración educativa. McClung recibió un doctorado en Educación de Texas A&M University-Kingsville y lleva consigo 11 años de experiencia dentro de SAISD a su nuevo puesto como directora en Fenwick Academy. Ella sirvió como directora, subdirectora y maestra de 4.º grado, de Título 1 y de Head Start. McClung cuenta con el respaldo de sus compañeros de educación y está orgullosa de sus muchas habilidades que incluyen la administración del salón de clases, la planificación de lecciones, la tecnología educativa, el diseño de instrucción y la oratoria.

Tabitha Palencia – Knox Early Childhood Education Center
Tabitha Palencia está orgullosa de haber asistido a San Antonio ISD. Se une a Knox Early Childhood Education Center como la nueva directora de la escuela. Antes de este puesto, Palencia sirvió como subdirectora por siete años. También enseñó en el salón de clase en 2.º y 5.º grado. Palencia recibió su licenciatura en Educación Preescolar y Estudios Liberales de Smith College al igual que en Administración Escolar, y Liderazgo y Administración Escolar de Concordia University. A ella le apasionan la educación y sus estudiantes y se une a un creciente grupo de educadores y estudiantes en Knox.

Blanca Gebhart, Interina – Bonham Academy
Blanca Gebhart no es nueva a Bonham Academy. El año escolar 2021-2022 será su vigésimo año en Bonham. Ella ha sido nombrada la directora interina y cuenta con experiencia como maestra de lenguaje dual por 11 años y subdirectora por seis años. Gebhart creció en Brownsville y comenzó su carrera en educación en el Departamento Bilingüe en Brownsville ISD en los 80. Luego trabajó en el gobierno estatal en Austin antes de convertirse en maestra. Ella está ansiosa de dirigir a Bonham Academy y no tiene duda de su éxito debido a su fuerte comunidad de familias y estudiantes.
