General Information:

In 2021, SAISD was awarded an Innovative Approaches to Literacy Grant from the Department of Education.

The grant focuses on 6 major components:

• Help our students create home libraries through book giveaways  
• Provide literacy training for parents with PreKinder and Kinder students
• Find new and creative ways to reach our dual language students through software designed especially for second language learners
• Bring the school library collections up to date with new titles and formats
• Extend hours at the high school libraries to offer a place for collaboration, MakerSpaces, studying and connecting with fellow book enthusiasts  
• Focus on information literacy in a world of information overload

We are excited to announce the addition of over 5,000 eBooks and 800 audio books to our school library collections.  Students can access those additions through Sora.  Sora is available to all SAISD students in ClassLink.
