SAISD’s Medicaid Department is responsible for implementing the Board approved Medicaid Reimbursement Programs, which consist of the SHARS, MAC, and RMTS programs. School Health and Related Services (SHARS) is designed to allow school districts to receive Federal Financial Participation, a percentage of reimbursement, for health services provided in schools, that are otherwise unreimbursed. These are health services delivered to Special Education students who are Medicaid eligible and for whom the district has received parental consent to bill Medicaid. The Medicaid Administrative Claiming (MAC) program provides Texas school districts the opportunity to obtain reimbursement for certain costs related to health administrative activities that support the Medicaid program. Random Moment Time Study (RMTS) is a methodology that is used to capture the amount of time spent providing services. Participation in RMTS is a mandatory component of participation in the Medicaid Reimbursement Programs.
