March 4-11 (Fri-Fri) – SAISD schools and offices closed for Spring Break 
All campuses and district offices will be closed for Spring Break. SAISD will reopen Monday, March 14.

March 4-13 (Daily) – SAISD COVID-19 mobile testing unit
10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays
10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday-Friday

San Antonio ISD, in partnership with AccuReference, is providing COVID-19 mobile testing for the spring semester. SAISD staff, students, and families may participate in drive-up COVID-19 testing. Staff and students receive free PCR or rapid tests; family members receive free PCR or $30 rapid tests.  

March 14 (Mon) – Bond 2020 Community Meeting: YWLA Project

The community is invited to discuss the planning and designs for massive campus overhauls and upgrades at Young Women’s Leadership Academy. SAISD’s $1.3 billion Bond 2020 allocates $50.5 million to YWLA for safety, technology and classroom renovations or new construction. The meeting is being held in person at Young Women’s Leadership Academy and online.

March 16 (Wed) – Community Meeting for 2020 Bond Projects: Carvajal Elementary & Rhodes Middle Schools

The community is invited to discuss the planning and designs for both Carvajal Elementary School and Rhodes Middle School with project architects and SAISD construction and planning staff. SAISD’s $1.3 billion Bond 2020 provides funds for safety, security and technology upgrades, new construction, and renovations of indoor and outdoor learning spaces. The 2020 Bond Project allocation for Carvajal Elementary School is $31.8 million and $47.4 million for Rhodes Middle School.

March 17-18 (Thurs-Fri) – First Lady of San Antonio visits schools in celebration of Cesar Chavez
At the dates and times below

First Lady of San Antonio Erika Prosper Nirenberg will visit three SAISD schools to share her personal experience of being a migrant farmworker and the impact Cesar E. Chavez had on advocating for Mexican Americans in the United States. Erika Prosper Nirenberg is the Grand Marshal of this year’s Cesar E. Chavez March for Justice. The annual march is set for Saturday, March 26, and for the first time, the Cesar Chavez Day will be recognized as an official municipal holiday on March 31.

SAISD is hosting a Critical Needs Job Fair to recruit certified teachers in several high needs areas, including Math, Special Education, Science and Fine Arts. Certified professionals such as Nurses, Librarians and Counselors also are invited to attend. Limited pre-hire opportunities will be offered to qualified individuals.
