Aug. 8 (Mon) – USDA awards $57,000 grant to YWLA-Primary

Garden tours, renderings, and the sharing of a vision for a community garden will be highlights during San Antonio ISD’s announcement of a federal grant that will benefit the students at Young Women’s Leadership Academy-Primary. The USDA has selected SAISD’s YWLA-Primary to receive a Farm to School Turnkey Edible Gardens Grant. The total amount of the federal award is $57,404, which includes a cost-share grant from the San Antonio Area Foundation of $17,500. 
 
Aug. 10 (Wed) – SAISD hosts town hall to share back-to-school safety and health updates

Families and community members are invited to a virtual town hall, during which Superintendent Jaime Aquino and SAISD Police Chief John Reyes share information about the district’s efforts in school safety and COVID-19 health precautions.

Aug. 11 (Thurs) – Edison High School hosts its first "Meet the Bears" night

The new school year begins with a roar as the Edison Golden Bear community hosts its first ever "Meet the Bears" night. Families and the community are invited to the Edison High School football field for a high-energy introduction of the Golden Bear students, teams and student groups including fall athletics, band, JROTC, P-Tech, spirit groups, magnet programs, and more.
