Oct. 3 (Mon) – SAISD Transportation Bus Hispanic Heritage "Pop Up Museum" tours the district
9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Various sites (See schedule below)

The SAISD Transportation Department has transformed a school bus into a "Pop Up Museum," showcasing Hispanic Heritage Month. The mobile museum will visit one campus each day. Our bus drivers and monitors serve as the teachers for this fun history lesson as students enjoy short biographies, photos, and videos of Hispanics that were pivotal in transportation. Also featured are individuals whose names represent SAISD schools. SAISD is the only district in Bexar County to have a school bus pop-up museum. Last February, the SAISD Transportation Department debuted the bus Pop Up Museum for Black History Month.

San Antonio ISD is launching a comprehensive public engagement process to gather community input for new Single-Member District (SMD) maps for its seven-member Board of Trustees. This is the sixth and final meeting in a series of Redistricting Town Halls that were held across the district to gather public input and comments. This meeting will focus on Single Member District 2 and will feature SAISD Superintendent Dr. Jaime Aquino and Board Trustee Alicia Sebastian hosting a "meet and greet" session before opening up discussion on the proposed redistricting maps. Parents, teachers, staff, and community members from all schools within each single-member district are encouraged to attend the meetings.

Oct. 5 (Wed) – SAISD Bus Driver Job Fair

SAISD is looking to add to its fleet of bus drivers. The district is currently offering a $1,000 signing bonus for applicants with a CDL license, and a $500 bonus to those without. Starting pay is $16.75 an hour and comes with a great benefits package, paid CDL training, and generous holiday and vacation time. Bus drivers also have opportunities to earn extra pay through field trips and supplemental work at the bus terminal.

Oct. 8 (Sat) – Brackenridge High School students attend San Antonio Black International Film Festival

San Antonio ISD will be the only school district with students attending the San Antonio Black International Film Festival and Workshop. Brackenridge High School Media & Film students will engage in real-world learning by networking and attending workshops that will help them make connections between classroom learning and career experience in the film industry. One of their experiences will be listening to a panel discussion hosted by Bruce W. Smith, the creator and executive producer of the Disney+ Original series, "The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder," and numerous other Disney animated feature films.
