Oct. 15 (Sat) – Instructional Assistant Career Fair

San Antonio ISD is searching for instructional assistants for needed campus-based positions. The district is hosting an in-person Instructional Assistant Career Fair to recruit educators interested in helping students succeed in the classroom and beyond. Benefits include a starting pay of $16 an hour, generous time off, multiple retirement options, and more.

The SAISD Board of Trustees will hold its regularly scheduled meeting at the central administrative office.

Oct. 20 (Thurs) – Smith Elementary Construction Shadow Day
7:45 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., 7946 N Loop 1604 W Access Rd., 78249

This is a Construction Shadow Day that comes with a different twist. It's not for students, but rather for counselors, who have the opportunity to be on an active construction site to experience life as a general contractor. UTSA has worked with SAISD's CTE department to create a special opportunity for counselors to help them when they work with students draw connections between their interests and skills to ignite a passion for a construction career. This is a unique experience only for SAISD staff.

Oct. 20 (Thurs) – Graebner Elementary "Lights on Afterschool"
3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Graebner Elementary, 530 Hoover Ave., 78225

Come take a look at how bright students' creativity can shine after the school day ends! Graebner Elementary is hosting a "Lights on Afterschool" event to showcase artwork created by students in the afterschool care program. There will be posters, trifolds, and other creative works on display to highlight the learning activity taking place after hours in the afterschool program partnered with the YMCA.

Oct. 20 (Thurs) – Sam Houston High School Homecoming Fall Festival
5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sam Houston High School, 4635 E. Houston St., 78220

Sam Houston High School invites their families and community to celebrate Homecoming 2022 at the annual Fall Festival. Catch the HOCO week spirit as the Sam Houston campus comes alive with an evening of family fun featuring food, music and games. There will also be a number of community partners on hand providing families with valuable information for available services.

Oct. 22 (Sat) – SAISD and Bexar County Sheriff's Office host Food Distribution
9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Bexar County Sheriff's Office, 200 N. Comal St, 78207

The SAISD Family Engagement department is teaming up with the Bexar County Sheriff's Office to host a Mini-Mega Food Distribution on the west side. This distribution will serve 500 families in the Lanier High School Feeder Pattern, which has been identified as an area of food insecurity. Sheriff Javier Salazar, SAISD Chief Johnny Reyes Jr., Bexar County Sheriff’s Deputies and Cadets, along with SAISD Police Officers will be on hand to serve the Lanier community and provide support during the event.
