Nov. 7 (Mon) – SAISD Board Meeting A/B

The SAISD Board of Trustees will hold its regularly scheduled meeting at the central administrative office.

Nov. 10 (Thurs) – SAISD Staff Office Depot Shopping Spree
5:30 p.m., Office Depot Alamo Quarry, 225 E. Basse Rd., 78209 

Office Depot is teaming up with SAISD to send teachers and schools on a shopping spree! Four SAISD campuses are the beneficiaries of a huge $25,000 grant Office Depot is awarding to the district! King Elementary and Tafolla Middle School are being presented with $1000 for each principal and $200 for each staff member to spend! The administration team of two other campuses, Rhodes Middle School and Lanier High School, will be given $3700 each to spend on whatever their schools might need. Superintendent Dr. Jaime Aquino will be present to witness the happy faces of staff members stuffing their school supply stockings well ahead of the holiday rush.

Nov. 10 (Thurs) – City of San Antonio Fort Sam Houston Area Regional Planning Open House
6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Cameron Elementary, 3635 Belgium Lane, 78219

The City of San Antonio Planning Department invites you to share your thoughts for the future of the Fort Sam Houston Area Regional Center. A planning process is underway to address future land use, housing, economic development, transportation, and amenities in this area.

Nov. 10-12 (Thurs-Sat) – SAISD Veterans Day events
Various schools and JROTC units are holding or participating in events in observance of Veterans Day.
Nov. 10 (Thurs) – 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., Huppertz Elementary IB Night/Poetry Jam/Veterans Day Tribute, Huppertz Elementary, 247 Bangor Dr., 78228 - IB Night at Huppertz Elementary will have interactive activities set up for students with a chance to win prizes! The festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. with a special Veterans Day tribute to honor and recognize the many veterans from the Huppertz family and community. 
Nov. 10 (Thurs) – 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Highlands JROTC 3rd Annual "Honor a Veteran" Dinner, VFW Poast 837,, 4436 Valleyfield St., 78222 - 20 Cadets will honor local veterans by co-hosting a special Veterans Day ceremony and dinner at the VFW Post 837. The Post will provide the meal, while the Cadets will lead the event by filling all roles throughout the evening from Color Guard to Master of Ceremonies. 
Nov. 11 (Fri), 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., Edison High School Annual Pancake Breakfast, Edison High School, 1701 Santa Monica, 78212 – The Edison Culinary Arts students cook up a pancake breakfast for staff or the community. Edison JROTC will deliver the plates, including the Color Guard, who will be going to different locations such as SAWS, Bio Blood Center and Neal Elementary. 
Nov. 11 (Fri), 8 a.m., Highlands High School Veterans Day Ceremony, Highlands High School, 3118 Elgin Ave., 78210 – Open to the public; performances by the Highlands High School JROTC, Band and Choir. 
Nov. 11 (Fri), 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., 3rd Annual South Texas McDonald’s Corporation & Highlands JROTC “Honor a Veteran” Luncheon , McDonald's, 2402 E. Southcross, 78223 – 20 Highlands High School JROTC Cadets will enjoy a complimentary meal when they have lunch with local veterans from the VFW Post 837. The JROTC Cadets will engage in conversation to gleam some wisdom and advice from the veterans who are huge supporters of the unit. McDonald's is providing the meals for veterans and cadets.  
Nov. 11 (Fri), 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Sam Houston High School JROTC at the 2022 Veterans Day Commemorative Ceremony, San Antonio National Cemetary, 517 Paso Hondo, 78202 – Keynote speaker Major General William Thigpen, Commanding General, U.S. Army South headlines the Veterans Day event at the San Antonio National Cemetary hosted by the Bexar County Buffalo Soldiers Association. 
Nov. 12 (Sat), Noon, SAISD LOTC units in Veterans Day Parade, Downtown San Antonio - The LOTC (Davis MS, Longfellow MS, Rogers MS, Tafolla MS and YMLA) will be supporting Veterans by marching in the United States Veterans Parade Association’s Veterans Day Parade in downtown San Antonio.
