Nov. 10, 2022 – Unilever, H-E-B, and the San Antonio ISD Foundation are celebrating Texas Recycles Day with an award ceremony to name the winning San Antonio elementary schools that participated in this fall’s recycling contest. There will also be a ribbon-cutting event at the new outdoor recreation area at SAISD’s Frederick Douglass Elementary School, which will feature play and sports areas made with recyclable materials.
Supported by an in-store fundraising campaign and a donation from both Unilever and H-E-B, SAISD Foundation will award local elementary schools with grants up to $10,000 for needed projects as a recognition for their students’ recycling efforts this past fall. There will also be a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the beautification of the Frederick Douglass Elementary School playground. The event will gather company leaders, elected officials, and leaders and staff of the San Antonio Independent School District. Representatives and students of the participating schools will also attend.
