March 13-17 (Mon - Fri) – SAISD Spring Break
All SAISD campuses and offices will be closed for Spring Break from Monday, March 13 through Friday, March 17. Offices and campuses will resume normal hours on Monday, March 20. Students return to class on Tuesday, March 21.

March 21-22 (Mon - Tues) – SAISD Special Olympics Track and Field Meet
9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Alamo Stadium, 110 Tuleta Drive, 78212

The SAISD Special Olympics Track and Field Meet returns after a pandemic absence. Student-athletes compete in running and field events at historic Alamo Stadium. Elementary students race on Tuesday, March 21. Middle school and high school athletes compete on Wednesday, March 22.

March 22 (Wed) – Highlands High School Bond 2020 Community Meeting
5:30 p.m., Highlands High School, 3118 Elgin Ave., 78210

A community meeting on planned Bond 2020 campus improvements to Highlands High School will be held in the campus cafeteria and will include presentations from SAISD bond management staff; Perkins & Will, project architect; and Satterfield & Pontikes, construction manager at risk. Trustee Leticia Ozuna will be in attendance.

March 23 (Thurs) – SAISD State of the District
7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., Alamo Convocation Center, 110 Tuleta Drive, 78212
Superintendent Jaime Aquino will share student-focused Board goals, highlights from the district’s Always Learning strategic management plan, and what reaching these goals mean for the city. This event is sponsored by the SAISD Foundation, The San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, and the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
 
March 23 (Thurs) – Edison High School Mock Disaster Drill
9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Edison High School, 701 Santa Monica Drive, 78212

Edison High school students in the Health Professions and First Responders magnet programs are teaming up with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, the San Antonio Fire Department and Acadia Ambulance to conduct a mock disaster drill. Students will learn how to perform under pressure during a mass casualty event to save lives. During the training exercise, neighbors may hear explosions and see a large presence of law enforcement and emergency personnel. Neighbors are asked not to panic and are invited to watch the training from a safe distance.

March 25 (Sat) – UTSA Biomedical Engineering Superheroes at Twain Academy
8 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., Twain Dual Language Academy, 2411 San Pedro Ave., 78212

UTSA is hosting a hands-on learning workshop for fifth graders. Students will learn about the science of how kidneys work and how technology can help patients with kidney disease. Students will even use engineering design to invent something new.
