As ceremonial gold shovels break ground March 30, San Antonio ISD marks the start of construction at Highlands High School. This is the first groundbreaking among SAISD’s comprehensive high schools as part of the district’s $1.3 billion Bond 2020 program. Assisting in the celebration is a student drumline, athletes and JROTC cadets.

Highlands High School has a project budget of $40,411,569. Construction starts March 2023 with an estimated completion date in the third quarter of 2024.

Scope of work:
• New competition and practice gyms with support spaces (weight rooms and concessions)
• Renovations to P.E. locker rooms (Boys and Girls) and coaches’ administrative spaces
• Athletic field renovations
• HVAC, technology, and safety and security updates
• Site improvements including new bus loop and band marching pad

The district is transforming its schools, which will, in turn, transform the lives of its students and communities alike.
