April 6 (Thurs TODAY) – SAISD’s “A Night in Old Tech”
5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Fox Tech High School, 637 N. Main Ave., 78205

The annual “A Night in Old Tech” features mariachi performances from seven high school squads, six of whom qualified for the UIL State Mariachi Festival in February. Performances by the Fox Tech High School/Advanced Learning Academy/CAST Tech High School sub-varsity units will also take place.
 
April 6 (Thurs TODAY) – SAISD Bond 2020 Community Meeting
6 p.m., Jefferson High School, 723 Donaldson Ave., 78201

SAISD Board of Trustee Ed Garza (District 7) will host a community meeting on the Bond 2020 campus improvements at Jefferson High School. Project scope includes restoration of the original 1930s building exterior, library, auditorium, and interior common spaces, also with updated to HVAC, technology, and safety and security. The Jefferson High School project budget is $32,315,630. 
 
April 6 (Thurs TODAY) – SAISD Winter Guard Showcase
7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Alamo Convocation Center, 110 Tuleta Dr., 78207

All SAISD comprehensive high schools will be sending their band Color Guards to the Alamo Convocation Center for a one-night showcase dedicated to the flag crews who wave their campus colors.
 
April 7 (Fri) – SAISD Easter Holiday
All SAISD campuses and offices will be closed on Friday, April 7 in observance of the Easter holiday weekend.

 
April 10 (Mon) – Edison High School Students Trainers named SA’s best
10 a.m., Edison High School, 701 Santa Monica Dr., 78212

Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Magazine awarded the San Antonio Student Training Program of the Year honor to Edison High School. The Edison Golden Bears squad had been one of 10 finalists. The program will be presented with a $2,500 check from representatives from Texas Football Magazine and contest partners University Health.

April 12 (Wed) – Sam Houston High School Bond 2020 Community Meeting
6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Edison High School, 4635 E. Houston St., 78220

SAISD Trustee Alicia Sebastian (District 2) will host a community meeting for the Bond 2020 improvements to Sam Houston High School. Project scope includes a new competition gym; renovation of secondary gym, locker rooms, weight room and support spaces; and a fine arts addition to include new theater Black Box and auditorium renovations. Additionally, site improvements are planned to parking lots, along with updates to HVAC, technology, and safety and security. The Design Team includes KAI, Inc., project architects, and Gilbane Building Company, the general contractor. Project budget is $28,823,327.

April 13 (Thurs) – Graebner Elementary Bond 2020 Community Meeting
5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Graebner Elementary, 530 Hoover Ave., 78225

SAISD Trustee Art Valdez (District 4) will host a community meeting for the Bond 2020 improvements to Graebner Elementary. Project scope includes a new academic wing; renovations to the 1950s building support spaces, kitchen and cafeteria, gym, and the walking track at the playground area. Additionally, site improvements are planned to parking lots, along with updates to HVAC, technology, and safety and security. The Design Team includes VLK Architects Inc., project architects, and Gilbane Building Company, the general contractor. Project budget is $28,819,269. 

April 13 (Thurs) – Graebner Elementary “A Night in Old Graebner”
5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Graebner Elementary, 530 Hoover Ave., 78225

Get a head start on all your Fiesta fun at “A Night in Old Graeber.” The staff at Graebner Elementary is excited to invite the community to an evening of Fiesta food, music and fun for the whole family. Participants can get their first Chicken on a Stick one week before Fiesta kicks off across San Antonio!

San Antonio ISD is kicking off Fiesta with its biggest hiring event of the year! The district is recruiting teachers, counselors, nurses and more at an Educator Career Fair at Lanier High School. There will be on-site hiring and in-person interviews – plus mariachis, folklorico and Fiesta celebrations. SAISD offers teacher salaries starting at over $55,000 with opportunities to earn up to $26,500 with the Master Teacher Initiative.
