San Antonio ISD is kicking off Fiesta with its biggest hiring event of the year! The district is recruiting teachers, counselors, nurses and more at an Educator Career Fair at Lanier High School. There will be on-site hiring and in-person interviews – plus mariachis, folklorico and Fiesta celebrations. SAISD offers teacher salaries starting at $55,000+ with opportunities to earn up to $26,500 with the Master Teacher Initiative.

April 18 (Tues) – SAISD schools honored at annual Student Sustainability Showcase

EcoRise and the National Wildlife Federation are hosting San Antonio’s 5th Annual Student Sustainability Showcase this spring to highlight student-designed green campus projects in the San Antonio region. Students from the Advanced Learning Academy will be presented with an EcoRise Eco-Audit Grant for their work on a project idea called “Crazy Composting.” Students from CAST Med High School’s Garden Club will be awarded a grant from the National Wildlife Federation to build a pollinator garden on campus.

April 20 (Thurs) – Rey Feo visits Twain Academy

Getting a visit from Rey Feo is a great way for the students at Twain Dual Language Academy to kick off Fiesta 2023! Rey Feo will bring his message that education is the pathway to dreams. He and the Royal Court also will pass out Fiesta medals to students.

April 20 (Thurs) – Brackenridge Cluster of Art Shows
4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Brackenridge High School, 400 Eagleland Drive, 78210

Sculpture and ceramic students at Brackenridge High School are focusing on the power of nature to heal. They are creating a large-scale art installation titled “OUTSIDE IN,” bringing the "outside" into the campus hallway. Also, the idea is that "outside" or nature, is "in" all of us. All Brackenridge feeder schools will have student artwork on display. Student art and concessions will be for sale. Additionally, fun art make-and-take projects will be provided free to those in attendance.

April 20 (Thurs) – Woodlawn Hills Elementary Abilities Fair
5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Woodlawn Hills Elementary, 110 W. Quill Drive, 78210

The 2nd annual Woodlawn Hills Abilities Fair brings awareness to our families and the community about the resources that are available for students with special needs in our district. The campus music teacher will produce a “music without words” performance that includes all students at Woodlawn Hills.

April 21 (Fri) – Chief Hood reads at Douglass Elementary Books & Breakfast
9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., Douglass Elementary, 318 Martin Luther King Drive, 78203

San Antonio Fire Department Chief Charles Hood is the guest reader at the Douglass Elementary “Books & Breakfast” event. Families are invited to join their children on campus to enjoy breakfast and story time. “Sparky” and “H-E-Buddy” will also be in attendance. The goal is to encourage students to practice reading at home.
